Title: Commercial Security Installation Technician
Reports to: Security Manager
Supports: Job sites in Maine
Status: Full-time
Connectivity Point Design and Installation has an immediate full-time opening for a Commercial Security Installation Technician based out of our Maine area of operations.
The Commercial Security Installation Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and troubleshooting commercial security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion alarms, intercoms, and related low-voltage equipment. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer service.
This position will serve Maine and will report to the Security Installation Manager.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, and test security systems including access control, cameras, alarm panels, card readers, motion sensors, and related infrastructure.
- Pull, route, terminate, and label low-voltage cabling (CAT5/6, coax, fiber, etc.).
- Mount and configure security hardware such as controllers, power supplies, enclosures, and network devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans to determine equipment placement and wiring paths.
- Diagnose and repair system issues and perform routine maintenance and service calls.
- Ensure installations meet company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes.
- Work independently or as part of a crew to complete projects on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, general contractors, and end users.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installed equipment, wiring records, and service reports.
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in security system installation, low-voltage cabling, or related electrical/technical field preferred.
- Familiarity with leading systems such as Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Honeywell, Bosch, HID, or similar is a plus.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in various construction environments.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, PoE, switching).
- Access control or alarm system certification(s).
- OSHA 10/30, scissor lift, or manufacturer training certifications.
- Maine low limited energy license preferred.
